The Prodigal Blogger
I'm alive! I promise!
I landed all safe and sound in New York, and it's been madness ever since. I now have two jobs, one internship, and I'm writing a novel. Yes, a novel. Here's why: I've always loved creative writing, but I've let it fall to the wayside in the past couple of years. Then my friend Joey told me about National Novel Writing Month, and I knew I had to get involved. So as of now, I'm a little over halfway done...and I have a crap ton still left to write this week. Eek! But it's been an eye-opening experience, and it's given me a lot to think about as far as maybe trying to make writing a side career as well (why not? I seem to be collecting them these days - what's one more?).
You'll also be pleased to know that I'm living in Tribeca (near Wall Street), on an air mattress, and Star Wars sheets...that I stole. Just living the dream!
I live here. Whatevs.

Nashville Show!
Okay, here are the details...so far. And they're a little sketchy, but bear with me.
I'll be playing with Trudy Chase at the Casablanca Cafe (new coffee place under the ICON), around 8:00 p.m., this Saturday (the 29th).
So if you're in the area, come hang out, and let us serenade you for an evening! It's free, so I can guarantee it'll be worth it.

Tiddly-bits
...wow, that word sounds gross. Nevermind.
So guess what? I've booked a show in Nashville, with Trudy Chase for the last weekend in August (I'll get more specific when I have the info) that I'm oh-so-excited about. Katie's one of my oldest besties, and she and Meredith are pretty much the shiz - check them out here.
Now, I know this is supposed to be the news section, but since I'm kind of boring, and don't have tons of news to report all the time, I'll also give you front row seats to a little show called "True Life: I'm a Broke-A Musician." Guys, it's going to be great (for you - me, maybe not so much...).
Here's my first little snack: Trying to get anything done in the entertainment industry - at any level, in any capacity, is like trying to herd effing cats. I kid you not. It's a Christmas miracle that anything gets done. Ever. Because it's a world run by flighty creative types, and impossibly complicated/overambitious projects, and things fall through constantly. CONSTANTLY. Which is okay once you get the hang of it- that's why you get lots of projects and plans going, so that everything hopefully evens out in the end. For better or worse, it's just how it is - but I think it's strange that no one really tells you that beforehand. Shouldn't that truth have found its way into my music business textbooks at some point? On a related note, I think I need a nap....
'til next time!
Kiss kiss,
Heath

On the docket...
Oh hi!
Here's what's coming down the pipeline in the next few weeks:
- Prosso and I will be doing my very first podcast!
- Look out for a new track or two
- I'll be trekking to Nashville the last week of August - I'll be filming a music video, doing a photo shoot (with the unstoppable Katie Bandas), and hopefully playing a show
- I'm moving to NYC on September 1st to carry on with my musical shenanigans.
Stay tuned! This next month should bring with it much awesomeness.
Thanks for listening!
